My loves, since we launched the Amori for Mayor – Vote 4 Love campaign many of you have reached out to me personally to express your enthusiasm and to ask me what you can do to get involved.
I would like to take this opportunity to answer that question and also to provide you with a deeper understanding of what the Vote 4 Love platform hopes to accomplish and the steps we’ve been taking to make those goals a reality.
Like most of you I have been disheartened by the anger, the vitriol and the divisiveness that the current presidential election cycle has evoked in this country.
Our major party candidates, both of whom have managed to earn record levels of dislike and distrust in all national polls, seem to spend virtually all of their time smearing each other and almost no time discussing solutions to the problems facing our nation and its citizens.
Is this what our political system has come to? “Where is the love?”
I’m running for Mayor of Los Angeles because I believe that today more than ever we need to find that love.
That is what has prompted me to take the Vote 4 Love campaign beyond the confines of festival culture and into a real world practice of “Heart First Politics” that spreads the love rather than smearing it and answers anger and hatred with love and compassion.
I wish to be clear from the start that this is not a joke, nor is it intended to mock the current system. We are on a heartfelt mission to create a new political model which poses the question what does a political campaign look like when it’s core value is love?
Why Los Angeles?
LA has not only been my home for the last 16 years, but it is also a very visible stage from which to launch a grass roots movement that we hope to make into a national and eventually even an international movement.
With the nation’s largest homeless population, congested streets and highways, rising cost of living and crime, Los Angeles is in dire need of more love!
Shortly after the presidential election, on Nov. 11th, I will be announcing my intention to run on the steps of City Hall.
We will be holding a rally and press conference, followed by a “Love March” thru the streets. The 11th is Veteran’s day so we will conclude the event by lending a hand to some of the city’s homeless veterans.
This is a crucial date for us and an essential opportunity to make a huge first impression with the media and potential voters and I need all of you there with me!
Until the 11th our sole focus will be on getting the word out, staffing up and building out our platform. But here’s what you can do to help:
